This, the most recent CRHSO recording, was recorded at the Digital Brothers studio in Costa Mesa, California in 2000. It features the excellent vocal styling of both Sheila Yates and Jeff Gilbert. Sheila's operatic and "Off Broadway" experience is very apparent as she interprets some popular numbers from the late twenties and early thirties. Jeff Gilbert's crooning voice is one of the best of all time. Here he shows that he is in the same league with such all-time greats as Bing Crosby and Russ Columbo, and why Rudy Vallee dubbed him "The Last Crooner." Here Jeff also pays homage to Jimmy Durante and Al Jolson as he does a few of his many impersonations. The band shows its versatility as it cooks on some hot jazz of the period and also plays in the sweet style of the society orchestras. The title track "Rhapsody In Blue" is performed as it was done originally in 1924. The George Gershwin masterpiece is recorded here by the CRHSO just as it was at its inaugural concert at Aeolian Hall. This number conclusively demonstrates the wide range of talent and ability of the CRHSO. Vocalists include: Shiela Yates, Jeff Gilbert, and the Crazy Rhythm Boys.
